We are pleased to announce the establishment of the GYA (Greek Yachting Association)

Greek Yachting Association (GYA) is leading the initiative of charting these uncharted waters by safeguarding and guaranteeing the presence of every serious and highly professional commercial yacht in this side of the Med. The founding members of GYA are Greek professional yachting companies which are involved in all fields of Charter, Brokerage, Management, Insurance and Construction of large yachts. GYA and its Members represent over 90% of the Crewed Charter Yachts in Greece under Central Agency Agreement.

The objectives of this Association are to:

  • maintain high standards of professionalism in charter, sales and yacht management
  • closely cooperate with MYBA association as MYBA members and MYBA companies
  • organize an annual charter yacht show for the Greek and foreign flag charter yachts, under Central Agency Agreement.

The Hellenic Professional Yachting reality has been historically slight different than the rest of the World. Greece, a sea nation, portrays a much more prominent role of the "ship"owners themselves who are not just investors but very passionate and very knowledgeable of that part of their sea activity; a fact not negative in its essence. While owners are invisible to the Brokers and your Charterers, rest assured that they are following every need and safeguarding optimum operation and integrity along with their trusted Central Agents.

9th Mediterranean Yacht Show

Having emerged as the world’s largest crewed yacht charter show, MEDYS marked this year its 10th anniversary since its founding. Once again, it gathered the crème de la crème of yachts operating under Greek professional license, hundreds of industry professionals from around the world, and dozens of exhibitors with products and services related to yachting.

The 9th edition of the Show was held from April 27th to May 1st, 2024, at the port of Nafplion and once again highlighted the dynamics of Greek yachting, affirming its role as the spearhead of maritime tourism.

This year's Show set a record with 102 yachts with a cumulative LOA of 3.9 kilometers registered for participation within just a few days of registration opening, creating an extensive waiting list, while last minute charters prevented some of them from attending. The Show was visited by 760 industry professionals from 30 countries around the world. It is worth noting that only yachts measuring 24 meters and above in length have the right to participate in the Show, which is exclusively addressed to luxury yachting.

Yachting tourism attracts an increasing number of visitors to Greece and MEDYS is the perfect occasion to highlight the region as one of the top yachting destinations globally. The show owes its success to the large number of registered yachts, the great turn-out of industry professionals from all corners of the globe and the contribution of the local CAs. It is organized each year by GYA under the auspices of the Hellenic Ministry of Tourism and with the kind support of the Municipality of Nafplion.
